City Families is the first non-profit in New York City that is solely dedicated to helping New Yorkers adopt New York children, who are presently in foster care. We grew out of our founder's personal experience working in child welfare system and as adoptive parents.

Cityfamilies.org is an integral part of the services we provide individuals and couples looking to explorer becoming the adoptive parent of a child in New York.  This site provides resources for those interested in adopting through the Child Welfare System. A number of these resources are available to anyone but the subject specific information is only available to registered members. 

The whole site includes:

  • clear and concise information about how the City and State adoption processes work
  • a comprehensive online resources section
  • Downloadable pamphlets, brochures and forms
  • information on City Families orientations and workshops
  • moderated discussion groups
  • access to information about personalized pre-adoption coaching.

Orientations are held throughout New York City on a quarterly basis.  Workshops are held periodically with the topics  based surveys of our registered members. Registering is simple and quick and doing so will allows you to fully experience the site.  We promise we will never sell or rent your personal information.
